1. 出席；到場
    Someone's presence in a place is the fact that they are there.

    e.g. They argued that his presence in the village could only stir up trouble...
           他們認(rèn)為他在村里出現(xiàn)只會招惹麻煩。
    e.g. Her Majesty later honoured the Headmaster with her presence at lunch.
           隨后女王陛下出席了午餐，令校長感到榮幸。

2. 風(fēng)度；風(fēng)采；儀態(tài)
    If you say that someone has presence, you mean that they impress people by their appearance and manner.

    e.g. They do not seem to have the vast, authoritative presence of those great men...
           他們看起來并沒有那些偉人的翩翩風(fēng)度和威嚴(yán)。
    e.g. Hendrix's stage presence appealed to thousands of teenage rebels.
           亨德里克斯在臺上的風(fēng)采吸引了成千上萬的叛逆少年。

3. 鬼怪；幽靈
    A presence is a person or creature that you cannot see, but that you are aware of.

    e.g. The forest was dark and silent, haunted by shadows and unseen presences...
           這個森林黑暗寂靜，經(jīng)常有幽靈和看不見的鬼怪出沒。
    e.g. She started to be affected by the ghostly presence she could feel in the house.
           她覺得這座房子里有可怕的鬼怪，開始變得神經(jīng)緊張。

4. （軍隊(duì)的）駐扎，進(jìn)駐，存在
    If a country has a military presence in another country, it has some of its armed forces there.

    e.g. The Philippine government wants the US to maintain a military presence in Southeast Asia.

5. 存在；被包含
    If you refer to the presence of a substance in another thing, you mean that it is in that thing.

    e.g. The somewhat acid flavour is caused by the presence of lactic acid.
           這種微酸的味道是因?yàn)楹腥樗嵩斐傻摹?br />    e.g. ...the presence of a carcinogen in the water...
           水中含有的一種致癌物質(zhì)

6. 引起注意；使得到關(guān)注
    If you make your presence felt, you do something which makes people notice you or pay attention to you.

    e.g. Rather than politely lobbying politicians, Gay Dignity will be making its presence felt through demonstrations.
           “同性戀尊嚴(yán)”游行活動不會彬彬有禮地向政客們游說，而會通過示威引起關(guān)注。

7. 當(dāng)著…的面；在…面前
    If you are in someone's presence, you are in the same place as that person, and are close enough to them to be seen or heard.

    e.g. The talks took place in the presence of a diplomatic observer.
           會談是在一位外交觀察員在場的情況下進(jìn)行的。

8. 鎮(zhèn)定自若；沉著冷靜
    If you say that someone had the presence of mind to do something, you approve of them because they were able to think and act calmly in a difficult situation.

    e.g. He had the presence of mind to put his emergency oxygen tube in his mouth.
           他鎮(zhèn)定自若地把應(yīng)急輸氧管放進(jìn)了自己的嘴里。
